Over a total of 4 in person visits, dancer Shannon Hartle and sculptor Martha Bird created this collaboration that involved each watching the other practice their art. Shannon watching and filming Martha outside, shoes off, sitting on the earth and weaving. And Martha delighting in Shannon’s interpretation of her weaving motions into “motifs” and repeated patterns that would become the foundation of her dance.

During YouBetcha's creation, Patrick Dougherty, internationally-acclaimed artist, and weaver Martha Bird share about the process of building this large scale willow sculpture.  For this 3 week project, Martha was specially invited to work 5 build days with Patrick (the maximum allowed).
